Get a FSM and a multimeter if you don't have them already, two inexpensive tools that will be an immense help to you.
That's the price for a brand new computer with a 1 year warranty. I have a multimeter.

This is what they gave me when I got the alternator tested at AutoZone.

Mine was doing this when I turned on the AC blower fan. I had some lights out on the dash and when I took out the AC control panel i found the the switch to the blower had melted the plug. I haven't fixed it and put it all back together yet, but i bet the short is causing a huge draw on the charging system.
