Only two things really do work and last,Either paint it or using a heat gun like said will turn any faded black trim back black. All of the products you see that say they work do but only for about 6 months in the real world.

Never tried it but I just had a thought. Black shoe polish? Personally I love the rustoleum bumper and trim paint. Sucks having to either remove parts or tape them off but it's very worth it.

Use SEM Trim Black (39143)
Its auto body grade satin black trim paint. Works great to restore and refinish plastic trim. A little more pricey but you get what you pay for.

what kind of prep is needed after all the rubbing of b to b? and possible wax b4 me?
scrub with lacquer or?
btw my sport is shiny black! so i need to go flat? im gonna shoot a section with some cheap flat and see over time how it looks. maybe in spring do it different. ihave found that some cheap paint actually works well. it cant be worse than the faded trim that never changes with all the b to b i rubbed on it!!
ill report back later!

Wash with dawn dish soap to remove any wax youve applied, wet sand them lightly for better paint adhesion (UNLESS IT IS TEXTURED PLASTIC, DONT SAND TEXTURED PLASTIC). 400-600 grit will work fine, then use a grease/wax remover, mask and paint away.
