Axle price ?
Hey guys. So I have been trying to get a set of the JK Rubicon 44s for awhile now.. anyways, what do you think I could get out of the my two? My rear is an XJ 44 with an ARB, Terraflex disk brake conversion, Riddler cover and 4.10s. My front is a 30 with the same minus brakes. I also have a brand new ARB compressor that has not even been hooked up yet. What do you think?

Stick with what you have. They are pretty much just as strong as the JK axles and yours are already in. You'll have to cut off every bracket and weld on new ones on the JK axles and after it's done you can run a 2" larger tire and are pretty much gonna have to run 17s. Lot of work for very little gain.

The thing is with the stroker coming soon, I don't think the 30 would handle it. I already broke one. I also would like the extra width. I have a d44 front out of a j10 with the high steer/xj mounts/cut to xj width (nothing inside of it yet) and the guy at local fab shop said he could weld all the brackets/truss them for trade for the j10 axle and parts (I only paid 300 for the j10).
I have looked at getting like a g2 d44 with arb but that is almost the same as the rubi 44s would run me. the j10 I have is just a lot more work that I have time plus the arb alone for it is 900 bucks.
I have seen tons of brand new sets of the rubi axles go for 3-4k with virtually no miles when shops build jeeps. There is a set on ebay right now for about the same price. I have thought about it a lot- all I really need is a new front. But if I can get the two rubi44s, I gain the width for the same price.

For example- http://www.ebay.com/itm/JK-Wrangler-...-/171155719515 Those have 25 miles on them.
What I have:
XJ Dana 44 rear with 4.10s, ARB, Riddler cover, Terraflex Disk brake conversion
XJ Dana 30 front with 4.10s, Riddler cover
Never used ARB compressor
and 5 5x4.5 16" black pro-comp rims
I would sell it as a package- just want to know what you think I could get out of it?

After looking around on the web and seeing the few D44s I could find were in terrible shape, The 44 was sandblasted, primed, and painted before I put it in. I replaced everything on the inside while swapping gears. Point being it is not a beat up/rusted D44- its in good shape.

package it and you'll probably get less for everything. the way I sell things is post it up complete for about 75% of what it would cost someone to build it brand new. then mention that "if I get enough buyers lined up I will part it out." you usually make more money by selling the individual parts. I know I always do
so the rear would be worth maybe $800 to the right buyer.

Thanks- So.
ARB for D44 is 900-1000
Terraflex disk brake kit is 500ish
Axle itself- 300-400
4.10 Gears- 150-200
Riddler cover 90-100
so total= 2100-2200
75% would be around 1550-1700
So you think only 800 for the rear?

You'll be lucky to get 800. Yes you've put a lot of money into it but it's used and that means usually less than half what you paid. Also if you paid 300-400 for a D44 or any rear axle you got ripped off. I paid 75 bucks for my FF D60 with factory 4.56s in it. I've seen a few XJ D44s in my neck of the woods go for 150 but that's tops and you're paying for bolt in convenience.

Well they were trying to sell that one for 2500. Who knows if it went or not. I guess 1500 sounds about right. That's about half of what a g2/new built one would cost.

for reference, I just sold my 8.8:
full case detroit locker
yukon 4.56 gears
alloy shafts
ruffstuff swap kit (ready to bolt-in to an xj)
flange adapter
ruffstuff cover
I was thankful to get $650 for it

Did you happen to notice the ad on pirate was 9 years old and parts are much cheaper and commonplace now. As for ebay, if someone pays 500+ for a stock rear axle they are just plain stupid anyway. At most junkyards and pull a parts rear axles are 75-150 and it doesn't matter what they are.
