Did not notice that it was 9 years old. Thanks for pointing that out. I went to pull a rubicon axle out a few weeks ago at the JY and they wanted 1900 bucks. I think it must depend where you at. I paid almost 400 for mine a few years ago after shopping around a lot.

Here are a few to support my 300-400

I have just never seen one go for anywhere near the 75-100 range. I actually sold the d35 and d30 out of my wifes jeep (blew it up) for 500 bucks stock about 6 months ago.

Haha only reason I am arguing with you is I have bought 3 axles for the thing- paid 175 for a D-30 at JY when I bent mine, spend 400 on the D44 stock and spent 300 on an empty j10 front D44 with the tj/xj mounts all welded to it/cut to width. All three of those would mean I got scalped if you are correct and to be fair, when I sold the 35/30 that include the driveshafts/coil springs.

Did I miss mention of just building the D30 with alloy shafts and bigger U joints? Or are you breaking the carrier or what?

Nope that is another option I have been thinking about.- trussing/gusseting/alloy shafts. I go through a ton of ball joints and always have with the 30s. I bent one of the Cs on my last 30. Bent it more while trying to fix it. No carrier yet but I just don't know if the internals of the 30 will be up to the stroker and 35s/36s. When I started looking at axles, saw the rubi 44s came with lockers and 4.10s, are a little wider and are fairly cheap (at least it seemed like it to me).

I do have the J10 d44 but to get an ARB locker in it is 1000 bucks, Ide need new wheels (already have a set of JK wheels). It is already trussed and has flat top knuckles for high steer but to get it done the way I wanted was going to cost me around 2800. (I am not comfortable welding it myself/doing the gears). Ive been torn for awhile now that's why I haven't pulled the trigger on the Rubi ones yet and why I have an empty d44 sitting around. If 800 is all I can get I guess Ill take it. I was thinking around 2000 for the two axles/new compressor/all 5 wheels but I guess I was way off

Well damn. Skip the TJ and JK stuff IMHO. I think the ball joints among many other components are nearly identical in strength.

I did not even think about that. I just assumed that the D44 came with bigger ball joints (the J10 does). I will have to check into that. Thanks! I know the new 06+ rubis have a larger u-joint and are high pinion. Not sure on ball joints.

I did some more looking around and found that the TJ D44 shares the stub shafts, knuckles, brakes, axle tubes, and unit bearings with the D30. Carrier, R&P, and inner shafts are an upgrade. If one were to go that route then sleeving the tubes seems like a worthwhile investment.

Too much cash into the d30 for me I think . I really like the idea of the jk44s. I did some searching and the ball joints are not quite the same. On the jks they are slightly larger and have a different taper. That's all I could find haha.
