should sound pretty good... one 10" sub is good for SQ, too. ya wont overpower your speakers... that being said, i feel that my 2 10" subs are good for SQ, as well... and if not i can just turn the subs down at head unit...
the comparison i really like is this
head unit: brain
amp: heart
subs: lungs
battery and wiring: circulatory sys.

so ya dont want a retard asthmatic with heart palpitations and clogged arteries for a system... haha..

Amp placement:
I finished my 12 hour shift and finally got home with a tape measure. A little useful info about my XJ: I have passenger-side body damage, and my B-pillar is knocked about 1" inward. My latch on the front door is fidgety, but works. The rear door is bad. If you press the button, the door pops out of place, and grinds when opened. To get it to close, it must be slammed hard, and I taped an eraser to the inside frame to fill the gap because the door no longer makes contact with the dome light switch. I simply don't open that door anymore, and I don't let passengers sit on that side. I'm going to gut the door so it will no longer be opened by passengers and security guards who don't listen. I may also waterproof the seal since the weather stripping no longer lines up.
So...
I measured, and my amp would fit perfectly on the floor in front of the rear bench with room to breathe. I was thinking of mounting some kind of open-top container (rubber, or whatever) to the floor as a sort of bowl, and installing my amp in that to make sure water stays away from the electronics. The amp is only 2.25" high, so I could put a false floor at 3-4" and leave a vent by the center where the floor is raised for the drivetrain. It would line up at the height of that center portion, and I could still fold the bench forward/down with no trouble. There would be a lot of space under there, and air could also flow under the passenger seat. Cover it with matching carpet, and it'll be nice and inconspicuous to the casual observer.

What do y'all think?

Spliced in new speaker wire to the driver's door since mine was severed. I can't believe how much of a difference that one speaker makes! Had to re-adjust all my settings, and I'm sure my passengers will be much happier with my now-quieter-on-their-side audio.
Anyway, I'm even more eager now to get my stuff delivered. Anyone have input on the placement of the amp (look at post 34 above this)? And random thought: is there anything solid to which the sub could be mounted on the back of the front passenger seat? More practical: Does anyone have a way to really secure the sub on the back of the bench? I know screws will hold it down, but I'm talking theft-resistant.

So I only have the two front speakers in my jeep. does anyone wanna give me ideas on how to wire up to back ones and a sub. I have a new head unit btw, is a dual um 1774 i think or something like that. on the back side it has a plug for the stock stuff which is what im doing doing now, but there is plugs on the back side if i was run a amp line, F/L, F/R, B/L and a B/R line. I never wired an amp or anything like, so anyone know of and write ups or anything like that?

Well Ive deiced to do this cubby whole idea : http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/write-up-97186/

Since I just want bump and dont need to shake the car next to me, nor win an competitions its seems like a really good idea to hide the sub and put the amp under the passenger seat or back seat.

I did. Installed everything about a week ago, and I finished the false floor over my amp three days ago. Unfortunately, it was damaged yesterday during an inspection at a security checkpoint because Marines suck. I'll be inspecting it tomorrow to see exactly how pissed off I should be.

Should be no problem, I'd think. Install was really simple. I unscrewed the plastic rocker covers and zip tied my cable to the existing stuff. My amp is mounted on the floor behind the passenger seat, and the sub is on the back of the bench behind it. I ran power along the passenger side for the amp, and I ran my RCA cables under the bench and up the driver side (opposite direction, actually. I dropped the RCA cables through the dash behind the radio and pulled it all the way through). My speaker wire from the amp to the sub is only about 2ft long.
If you want any specific pics, I'll see what I can do. My Homebrew post is here: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/ho...0/#post1224955
