$hitty Repair Bill
So, I brought my cherokee in for a serpentine belt and ended up needing a new battery, alternator, starter and condensor for the a/c. I told them not to replace the filter or charge the a/c, since I do not use it ever and still have a $1200 repair bill. I do whatever I can myself, but dont have the nessessary tools for this repair and I needed my truck for work. SUX

1200.00 for a serpantine belt.... you could have bought another jeep for what that cost. it only takes 5 minutes to replace that belt. something doesn't sound right

Well they said the reason that I needed a new belt was because my alternator seized. Have 150k on the truck and never had to replace anything since I always kept up with maintenance, but I live by the shore and well you know...rust. Had the battery for 5 years and original starter and condensor. Guess it was time, but that just hurts the pocket, thinking it was only gonna be $50 originally.

you got taken for a rideeeeeeeeeeeeee.
All you need to change an alt and a belt and an ac compressor is basic hand tools, Since you just paid someone else 1200 bucks treat yourself to sears and buy the 168 or bigger piece tool kit, and look at all the tools it comes with, then fill in the blanks with plyers and extensions etc.
new belt and alt is sub 200.
when not in use the compressor acts like an idler pulley, so unless you can hear it grinding all kinds of rust when not engaged, or see it wobbling and falling apart, its fine. They saw you coming.
