I have a locked front and rear Dana 44 in my JK Rubicon, I can get you specs for it as well if you would like.

Where the BOM is, there's nothing but rust. That's of no use to me.

Sorry it's not more XJ related, but for my JK, here are my D44 numbers:

Rear axle tube ~ 3.162 inch
Front axle tube ~ 2.518 inch

Specs via Chrysler build sheet:

Next Gen. Dana 44 HD Front Axle
Next Gen. Dana 44 HD Rear Axle
Tru-Lok Front & Rear Axles
4.10 Axle Ratio

I believe they make more than one D44 because one is considered HD (heavy duty) and one is SD (standard duty).

The ones intended for towing or locking are probably thicker to accommodate for better built parts. The ones intended for everyday driving are probably thinner for economics.

The D44 on my JK on the rear has what looks like a tiny factory truss, but the front one looks more like a D30 with no trussing at all. Still, Chrysler calls mine "HD." There are so many different variations of D44 that maybe Chrysler just went and changed their design between years for the XJ to provide upgrades or cost efficiency.

It wouldn't hurt to add your input.
Now, i found that GM had a rear D44 that was a 3" tube diameter. Starting to wonder if someone swapped this axle to the parts MJ..
