Default Anyone Use TREDS ????........

Has anyone used TREDS? I'm considering getting a set. My hope is that these would be the answer to traversing my driveway in deep snow.......

I'd think they'd just slide out from under the tire on a slippery driveway.

I guess I should have defined what my driveway is. It's unpaved. sloped fairly steep, rock strewn and rutted, and about 600 ft. long. One has to be judicious when picking a line to get up it in snowy/icy conditions.....

One two separate occasions, in 2 different vehicles, both in low range and first gear, I managed to do 180's while trying to descend it. Not fun at all. In the winter I like to refer to it as my personal bobsled/luge run....

Last winter while trying to climb it after a good dump of snow, I slid off of it and almost into the woods. It required 2 1/2 hours of digging to extricate the XJ. Definitely not fun.....

A winch would be the ultimate answer but that's not in the cards for me. If these Treds work as advertised in snow as they do in sand I might be able to save myself a lot of digging....

Maybe it's time to get some crushed concrete for your driveway.

A driveway that can't be traversed by an XJ is one heck of a driveway.

Are you 4x4?

One benefit of my driveway situation is that "unwanted guests" with less than honorable intentions won't even consider trying to get up it....

He doesn't need a snow spreader, he needs something to get RID of the snow.

Do you work for the government or something? Salt needs to die. Put sand in it.

You don't want to use salt on a dirt driveway. It really makes a mess of it...... Sand, yes..... On the bottom of the driveway I often times use spent black beauty from sandblasting. I get it from work.....
