Hey guys i recentely went doorless, well tried i am having a super tough time getting the doors back on its just not working. Immost likely going to get tube doors with a mesh kit so itll be like half doors and jus t put speakers under the dash. Also might bedline interior, So being doorless would most likely be permanent. Does anyone or has anyone gone doorless for long periods of times? Pros..Cons.. Any opinions would be welcome! Or help on getting the doors back on would be nice to lol

 

Did you cut your door hinge pins into a point to make it easier to slide in? And the cons I could see are it being cold in the winter months, assuming it's a DD. lol

 

I can get the door on and off no problem its getting it aligned that is not working and that and mud and water were the only other cons oh and people snooping but my doors never locked to begin with so its no different

 

My doors have been on for maybe a weeks worth of driving over the past 3-4 months. Rain kinda sucks, but it's still better than riding the motorcycle in the rain. You get some funny looks from people too, riding around in the middle of winter with no doors.

 

I put my doors on for the 2 cold months here and then they are off for the other 10 months. and its my DD

 

So have you guys had any major problems wth staying doorless or is it alright?

 

I dont mind it, but i park inside a garage. if I didnt have that I would have doors.

 

I would imagine you would want to add some sort of chassis stiffeners like Ruff Stuff's to keep your unibody somewhat straight. With the doors off all the time the uniody is able to flex more, and can create issues down the road. That's if you do a good bit of flexing all the time.

 

I have a garage as well and I've looked into the stffners, thanks for reminding me!

 

Why don't you just align your doors? Are they not even close to latching closed or what?

 

first time it's gotten above 10 degrees in 2 weeks. think ill keep the doors on :P got down to -32 last thursday night. im glad i dont have leather seats :P

I took my doors off once. Hit a pothole and the unibody folded like a taco.



And OP, a good technique to get the doors to align is to try to get the pins to not sit EXACTLY perfect in the holes if that makes sense.. Sort of have the top pin work against the bottom and vice versa so there is no droop. Take your time and you'll eventually get them aligned. It took me 5 seconds to align my passenger door, and about 3 hours to align my drivers side door by myself with a 5 gallon cooler as a prop... But that one had about 2" of drop i had to fix. Took forever and its not absolutely perfect, but neither door drops down when they're opened and they both seal up good.


My best advice on aligning them.. If you cant get it to stop dropping, try moving one of the hinges to a random spot instead of just tweaking it slightly.
