Is it even possible to have a in dash DVD...

 

My 99 Cherokee Sport has factory in dash CD and cassette.

You can with one that is motorized and the screen goes in and out of the receiver. Also know as a Single DIN unit.

 

ANYTHING is possible if you know the right shop! Motorized is easy to install, but if you wheel in dusty, dirty areas, the grit can gum up gears and tracks. Ask me how I know...

 

I had a 7 inch flip out touchscreen on my 93xj, it was easy to install, and when I went wheeling, mudding or whatever I always closed it so the screen was safe and Dident get messed up.

 

seems you will need to relocate the unit down to where the vent is and move the heater controls up to where the radio was.

someone on here just did this a short time ago, he posted pics.

 

If ya can find that link it would be awesome. I can't find it. I didn't figure a single din flip out DVD would come out far enough to not hit the dash.

 

I want to run a double din. I plan on ditching that heater vent, Moving controls down one. Cutting that upper bar and trimming a little and insulating.

 

Im gonna try to get pics for you. My buddy runs a double din. You dont need to move the hvac controls or cut the vents. All you need is some trimming of the bezel and some fiberglass. Easier said than done, but its cutting your whole center stack isnt needed. The radio is suspended with a custom kit made of mdf or the wood of your choice plus metal strap.

 

I moved my heater controls up to were my radio was and installed my flip out dvd radio were the heater controls go. Here's pics. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I just went out and took them when I saw this thread.
