Has any one found a good place to get/order the stock mounting brackets for the flares on the 97-01? I figure they are all going to break off like mine did at the JY.

Thanks in advance

Just grind the old broke studs out and weld in 1/4" bolts. Thats what I've done on every set I've taken off. Even if I didn't break any of the studs. preventative maintenance.

My welder (or my skills) isnt the best at small stuff. You do bring up a good point though.

I just welded mine about an hour ago at work. I did the older style a couple days ago. I can't recall if you can just run a bolt thru the bracket and flare and use 2 wrenches to tighten them down instead of welding a stud...

I wouldn't mind knowing if there was a source to purchase them too. Mine were too rusted out to even think about trying to weld the tinfoil that would have been left after cleaning off the rust

Right now I am looking at cheaper aftermarket and DIY flares because I don't really like the no flare look and I can't justify the cost of Bushwacker flares and the other look a likes out there.

I found them listed on Morris 4X4, but a full set of retaining brackets would cost about $240

I believe Morriss 4x4 has them new. I see them on e-bay used.

Yeah I just found them there too, but 2 of my flares are broken so once I bought the two flares and all the brackets I might as well buy a set of the Rugged Ridge flares OEM stuff cost too much

Both of the above statements have been exactly what I have realized. I pulled on off to see what the flat fender would look like up there and decided against it. In the process I broke off three tabs. I think Im going to try to weld it.

If the metal is too thin you could but something behind it and do sort of a patch job.

I do like the drill a hole and use a bolt with two nuts idea though.

I have also replaced the broken studs with round-head bolts. Worked well.
