I have got a lot done to this and still dealing with this stupid engine light. Head gasket replaced head cut new bolts, ignition coil ,hoses, radiator, cap and rotor, plugs and wires champion and Bosch wires, new fuel injector for cylinder 2 and 4 which were misfiring before that didn't fix it.throttle body was cleaned, fuel pressure is good, replaced CPS light was cleared stayed off came back on hour later when I started it again. Got the light checked and have 6 codes for misfires for every cylinder!!!! What the heck. I do have an exhaust leak by the cat and TPS has not been replaced yet .no stalling just very ruff idle in traffic and at lights. Only stalled twice and that was before I replaced anything. The CPS was a Airtex that got put in. There was no compression test done yet. Anyone have any ideas??? I wanna get this thing smooth so I can start lifting it and do what I wanna do.

96 XJ 99,000 miles bought it for 700$ dropped almost 1000$ into it

I don't have any actual input, but you should stick to OEM sensors. I've heard bad stuff about Airtex (specifically the fuel pumps) and OEM sensors aren't much more expensive.

Also, see if you can get this thread moved to the OEM tech section. Might get more replies that way. PM a mod.

When the CPS was replaced we didn't disconnect the battery.if I reset the PCM do you think they may fix anything? Maybe it just hasn't registered into the computer that there's a new sensor?

I've never had an issue replacing it with battery connected. Come back with compression results on all cylinders done at normal operating temperature so we can rule that out and go from there.
