I was wondering if all years of the xj came with airbags? I think some didn't, but can't seem to find this info anywhere.
Another question would be, could I swap seats from my 98 into my 91? The drivers seat.
Thanks.

Nevermind, I've found the answer. Although I must say the older cherokees must be pretty dangerous without airbags.

Yeah so could I. My 91 has no airbags and my mom and dad are just scared for my life. But I drive as slow as a tank so, not much to worry about.

Nope, just hung on to the steering wheel and rode it out. I could have driven it 600 miles home except for a hole in the radiator. I did take it up to 65 mph for one mile stints.

I love the steering wheel in my non airbag 93. I wouldnt want some fat rubber wheel with a bag in the middle.
I have been in several crashes with friends and never once had an airbag deploy even if they were there.

That brings up a good point. Airbags are great for head on crashes, but in roll overs like I was in, they are worthless I wouldn't have been able to hang on to the steering wheel and avoid all injuries.

Airbags suck, I always disable them. Had a friend live through a head on, as they were cutting him out, airbag deployed and broke his neck. Yeah admittedly, it was a defective bag, but how do you test such a thing. As for the original question about seats, I just put 97 seats (when they redesigned the interior) in my 96 and they fit like a glove.

Yeah I swear the steering wheel in my 91 is way better than my fat *** one in my 98.
As for the seats, mine are power which I hear happened in the early 90's I think? I'm hoping to take a trip to the jy and find me a 90-96 to swap in a drivers seat and a new passenger bench for the back.

You know if all models have power seats or just some? I'd imagine it would be the more expensive at the time they were built for the option. I don't need a power seat but just want to get a look at my options.
