Default air bag impact sensor location?

Hey guys so like the title says. Im about to install a smittybilt tubalur bumper on my jeep but doing some custom work to it. From what I saw online that the air bag sensor is installed on the factory bumper. Is this true? And anything else I should know to properly intall the offroad bumper. .

you just unscrew the screw on top of the steering column and that shuts the airbag off.

I'm pretty sure that's not for every year. Just one...maybe two years.

Default Service disarm

^ Correct!
That method of disarming the airbag is for 1995-96. Driver side only, used for servicing the column. All parts and sensors of airbag system is contained in the steering wheel.
The 1997 and later have dual airbag option. I am not sure how to address this system.

Yes, only for 95-96 with mechanical air-bags. For 97+ you pull the air-bag (SRS) fuse to disable the air-bags. 95-96 have an inertial sensor (accelerometer) in the column and there are no impact sensors in the bumpers anyway, I'm not sure if 97+ have sensors in the bumper (I don't think that they do, I believe they also use an inertial sensor, but someone with a 97+ should be able to confirm this.).

You should be able to tell if there are sensors pretty quickly by looking for the wires and the sensors themselves, no wires = no sensors. If there are impact sensors and you don't want to disable the air-bags, I'd probably just re-locate them to the front cross-member (since a high-speed impact will push a heavy-duty bumper into the cross-member), it will increase the impact speed that it takes to deploy the air-bags but if you wear your seat belt this won't be an issue (air-bags are designed to deploy in a 15 mph impact with a fixed object but this is to protect "unrestrained-occupants", if your wearing a seat-belt they likely won't make much of a difference until around 45-50 mph).

I want to get rid of my air bags all together. Cause insurance company's always total cars out if air bags deploy when the damage is minimum. Plus if im on the trails I dont want to take a chance...

Just yank the fuse then, the air-bags can't deploy if there is no power to them.
