Default Advice on potential purchase!!!

Hello All!!! I am looking for some input from some XJ guys on whether or not to pull the trigger on this jeep near me. It is a 1990 4.0 auto with 167k manual locks and windows. It has an aftermarket sunroof and rear disk brakes. 1 owner. It is inspected for two years but the passenger side rocker panel is nonexistent driver side is OK and so are the floors from what I can see. What should I really look for when purchasing one of these what can I expect to pay to replace the rocker panels and could other problems to be hiding ? Right now I beat them down to $1900. Let me know what you think.

FYI
If the rockers are gone the floors can't be much better.

Only the passenger side was gone the other seemed pretty solid along with the floors. That is why I am skeptic.

If you do go for this it is highly recommended to do tips #1,3,4, and 5 here $1900 isn't a bad price for an XJ especially given the recent and sudden bump in price noted in other threads. Sounds like the owner knows a bit about the Cherokee if he had a rear disc setup so it could be fairly well taken care of.
What was the original asking price?

The original asking price was 2500 but he want very stiff at that. Most of the negotiating was done to get him down from 2200.

I would pass on it over the sunroof. The aftermarket ones will leak faster then a oem one and you can't get any new rubber gaskets for them.

Nothing a little silicon can't fix on a $1900 car. 😁😁😁

you must lift the carpet to check rusted floors. mine were bad but the rest is almost rust free, rockers solid. needed apx $300 in work.
i paid $1200 out the door, a 2000 sport.
you can spend time looking for a better one.

"cargurus" pestered me daily with offers till i found mine starting at $1900, then 1400, i haggled to 1200 full price.
try cargurus for jeeps, get their listings, im still getting them daily!

my 4.0 is risky for head cracking and has a little piston slap but runs great right now.

i have 1500 in it now. if i need an engine i may end up at 3500 for a rust free sport, "a happy jeeper"!!
