I've been dealing all winter with nearly no heat.
180* thermostat, I also hate filling up the renix coolant system.
Any XJ or MJ for that matter.
So how to make it better?
Coolant Tee goes in the upper radiator hose since it is the highest point in the cooling system.

I'm adding this to the upper radiator hose and removing the renix closed loop system, without buying a radiator.
Just thought I would share because I know I'm not the only one to hate the setup.
This helpful even with the open systems so you know you got the system full...

 

I've been using those for years, racing radiators don't have filler caps or drains either. Always bought mine from Summit or Jegs also added another T to the lower radiator hose with a petcock to drain the radiator instead of just pulling the lower hose. Once you pull one when the water is hot you know why.

 

Do you have a part number for the lower radiator hose petcock? Thanks

Will the hood still close?

 

Yes. I checked it using modeling clay. Over an inch clearance.
