Default '96 XJ roof drip rails damaged question

Hi - just towed my "new" '96 XJ home. Previous owner must have hauled pine trees on top of it at one time and fastened them down with chains for crying out loud!! Lots of dimpled / bent areas in them - anybody had theirs repaired at a body shop? I need to get these fixed ... and can the "skid runners" on the roof be replaced in between the two luggage rack rails?....

Thanks for the read,
Mark

I work during the week and get home at 10 PM where I have to get up the next morning and RUN out the door to get to work the next morning (2 hours away) and then on top of THAT I had to be gone Friday, Sat & most of Sunday baby-sitting two dogs PLUS driving 7 hours in one day to a wedding (AND I'm a type 2 diabetic) with no medication for 3 days..... whew - what a load!!

Anyhoodles..... tomorrow I have OFF and I'll take those pictures and upload them if I can figure out how....

Wow - it worked. Can these drip-rails be fixed at a body shop?

Yeah they are fine looks like they just rubbed the paint off them to me.I would sand them get a spray can of primer a spray can or factory color and a can and clear and paint it myself. If your gonna take it to a body shop now might be the best time to have it re sprayed if you have any other paint problems on it.

Andrewmp6 - thanks for looking.... I'll get it all spiffed up at a body shop as there are some other "grocery cart" bumps and dings around the Jeep... just wanted to make sure the entire ROOF didn't need to be replaced (would Mustang SCREAMING YELLOW be a good paint scheme when I get her repainted?...)!! Guess I better go now, and start to work on replacing those freeze-plugs....

Thanks - Mark

OP, congrats on the new old 96. They have some unusual parts as it was a transition year to new technologies (the fuel pump and pressure regulator may be in the sending unit in the fuel tank).

If you haven't done so, you can get the digital FSM from

http://www.pacificcoastmanuals.com/j...e_manuals.html

$8. Good deal.

Good luck.

It would be a good idea when you mention Pacific Coast Manuals to let everyone know that they are windows only. You can't download s*** if you have an Apple computer.
