96 chrokee 193k mi, chirping sounds & vibrations - any clue?
hey all...so recently i have had this constant chirping noise while driving forward from a dead stop. This chirping only happens while i start to move. Also, there is a vibration of some sort when i start to speed up- but it only happens when i press the gas and move foreward. There are no vibrations when the gas is let go. here is a video....

Hard to tell. If you just rev it up in park and have no nose then it wouldn't be a belt. So next thing I would think would be U-joints or just something stuck in the brakes. Sorry but that's all the help I can give.

does it sound like a bunch of angry sparrows?
it's probably your centering ball in the double cardon in your front drive shaft.
time for a rebuild.

Well I didnt actually fix the problem. I just have a feeling I know where it might be coming from. I'll trouble shoot it today after work around 5 EST. I'll post pictures as I go along so maybe I can help out other fellow jeep owners. I have the iPhone app so it's very simple to post.

Mine is doing the same thing but only at lower speeds up to like 35 if i exceeded slow it don't vibrate but still has the chirping.i found my passenger u joint on the front axle has very little movement but betting its the problem

99.9% of the time, the angry sparrows is the centering ball, not a u-joint.
you should replace both u-joints on each side of the centering ball since you have it all apart anyways.
the centering ball can come two ways, just the ball for a rebuild, or even better, the centering ball with the yoke.
i actually just took mine apart and cleaned and greased mine up and put it all back together again. been good for 3 years now.
they're a bit tricky cause the center ball has a little spring, but not too difficult if you've done u-joints before.
