Default 87 XJ BIG RED

I just bought an 87 Jeep XJ 2.5L I4, 5 speed, 4X4 with 237k miles on mostly stock parts except for the fuel pump and brakes for $250... the only downside is it does NOT run... The engine will turn over but will not start... the guy that I bought it from said that it could be either some sort of coil or a cam sensor... I'm gonna start out just getting it to run then I'll add on the extra such as:
- 4.5 inch lift
- roll cage
- 31" tires
- winch
- 4.0L I6 engine
- more added to the list while I think about it...

Pictures will be posted tomorrow

Well it finally cooled down enough to actually go outside, so I went and took another look under the hood and I took out the radiator and cleaned it and I also took out the alternator to get it tested... The whole thing is wired all redneck rigged so I need to do some rewiring... I got the new fuel filter in and getting the new spark plugs in later... Need to go to the salvage yard to get a new alternator mount since the original one is holding on by a thread.... Will try and get pics posted soon

Sounds like you got a really cheap project to play with.
Post those pics up when you can. We like it when someone saves another Jeep.

Congrats on the XJ! When they turn over it's a good thing, because you can hear what it could be.

Trying to get time to get the pics uploaded to the computer so I can post them... This XJ has alot of potential to be a great Trial Rig/DD...

OK I'll take you up on that... Right now I'm just trying to get the alternator in right so the serpintine belt is not rubbing against the engine block and I finally did that today... but I'm not able to start it right now cuz some wires came loose and now I have to reconnect them which won't take too long just gotta get a few things from Ace or home depot

I get my paycheck tomorrow so after work I'm gonna go put some tags on RED and then I'll either go try out the 4x4 on a lil trail or go to the salvage yard and pick up some zj springs and some s10 leaf springs... and Then I'll probably install them on tuesday or wednesday, depending on when I go school shopping... Oh and I finally got some pics...

UGH!!! I went to go get plates put on my XJ today but as soon as I got the money it died on me... I was low on gas so I put 10 bucks in it and it still wouldn't start and then I realized the battery was dying so I went and bought a new one since i needed to anyways.. and it still wont start!!! I had it running earlier today just fine... I also put in some new spark plugs last night and topped of the coolant... So right now I'm in a rage trying to figure out what is wrong, I might have flooded it trying to start it so i'm gonna let it sit for a lil bit... but if i can't get it to start by thursday I'm just gonna take my engine out rebuild it and rewire all the components, cuz right now most of it is jerry rigged together...
