Default 6 or 8 gutter mounts?

I am building a roof rack that I want to be pretty sturdy, so looking at mounts I am wondering if I should do 6 or 8. I'm gonna take the lazy route and buy them from JCR. Should I spend the extra $20 for two more mounts?

I'd do 8 just because you'll wish you had later. I have 8 on mine and I carry some weight up there.

This^^ hahahahaha. But I'll have my spare, bikes occasionally and whatever else I'll have to randomly put up there because I don't have a truck

For that little of a difference I'd go with 8

Every pound of weight in a roof rack moves the center of gravity higher and that equals easier to turn over.

I have a large custom made roof rack and I try to put the lightest weight, bulky items in it.

Ya I understand that it will raise my center of gravity but here in Florida we don't have hills I don't rag on it because it's my dd. And if I ever have something heavy on it, it would only be for moving or if I buy metal/wood
