Why not just save more money then buy the 6.5 kit if youre eventually going to do that anyway...just my thoughts...
As far as 3'' vs. 4.5'', either one in my opinion is good. I prefer the 4.5'' to the 3'' though. I say go for the 4.5''.

I started with a 3" and have since gone to 3.5". I know, not much difference, but I'm happy with it and it'll be as far as I go. I can run 32's with the fenders slightly trimmed and with it only being 3.5", all I've had to do in addition to the lift itself is a 1" t-case drop.

I'm too anxious to wait for the cash for a 6.5 lol, I wanna do a little more aggressive wh3elin while I save for the big lift. I'm just worried the 3 inch wont be satisfying but the 32s mmay make up for it

33s can fit on a truck with a 3" lift and trimmed fenders.
Anything bigger than 3" and you have the potential to run into problems. Problems you'll have to throw more money at.
If you are saving for a bigger kit, get the one you know you won't have to put tons of money into and will still be able to run the tires you want to get.
