Nah **** that, the only new cherokee ill respect is the trailhawk. The rest are just clones of new crossovers. FwD. Wtf is that. Least the trailhawk comes with a decent stance. Id get one of those and delete half the electronics like blind side, lane departure, and crash detection.

Edit: and i wanna say, i have nothing against ppl that wanna buy them. Ill give anyone help with cars. I can't stand how most new cars allow ppl to feel too safe and think they're invincible. Give me a good used car from the turn of the millennium and im good

Oh, I agree 100% that it is called Cherokee forum, and peeps will come here regardless based on that alone, but when this site was started there was no KL....As much as I hate to say it, a KL sub would probably be best, to try to herd the cats, but you know these posts are gonna keep adding up, and winding up in the wrong sections anywho....

Well look at how many 2014cherokee threads there has been so far.
This would be a good was for cherokee forum to expand to a new market. Get more users.

I've never driven the new Cherokee so my opinions of it other than of the appearance aren't based in fact. I doubt it is as capable off road as the XJ but most SUV buyers won't drive on a dirt road so it's off road capabilities probably don't matter.
If people are going to buy a modern jeep with off road intentions, they're probably buying a wrangler as the others are primarily road vehicles with ground clearance.
That said, maybe I'm wrong. Lots of people think the Porsche cayenne isn't a capable off road vehicle but in reality it's more capable than my XJ.

My xj when stock did pretty good at greens and light blues. Same as many stock JKs did. The stock 2014 will do the same. Until it is modded it won't see blacks.
As for comparing other vehicles,I've personally seen someone with their M series Mercedes going offroad and doing quite well

If you're still here Mister OP...
As for your question, the dealer techs probably did that because they were lazy or thought you'd get better fuel economy.
As for the forum, this is a commonly made mistake due to branding:
Jeep Cherokee SJ: 1974-1983
Jeep Cherokee XJ: 1984-2001
Jeep Comanche MJ: 1986-1992
Jeep Wagoneer XJ: 1984-1991
Jeep Cherokee KJ: 2001-2007 (Liberty in North American markets)
Jeep Cherokee KK: 2008-2013 (Liberty in North American markets)
Jeep Cherokee KL: 2014-present
Clear as mud, right?
Not to mention the Grand Cherokees (1993-1998 ZJ, 1999-2004 WJ, 2005-2010 WK, 2010-present WK2) which people frequently think is a trim level and just call them Cherokees. This site really is for the XJ vehicles, but MJs are very welcome as they extremely similar.
