Default 2011 Grand Cherokees... A Joke?

Is it just me, or do the newer 2010+ Grand Cherokees look girly, as if SUV soccer moms drive them? I prefer the older pre-1999 box styles. I don't know what's going on with that, but the new ones look extremely gay. Just my opinion. Your thoughts?

I have to agree that they have lost some of the intimidating look of jeep, but with that being said, I have driven the 2011 grands were I work and they are one of the sweetest rides. It is all about luxury and comfort. I have not tested it off road so I do not personally know how it would perform, but definitely would be an awesome dd.

Other then the ZJs, the 2011 Grand Cherokee is the only Grand Cherokee I like. I hate the WJs

For what they are they are one of the only lux SUVs I'd even look at for a DD. IMo noth else comes close to it in its class, Hemi, the air lift suspension (hack able as everything is) decent traction and road manners and they are comfy as all hell. huge step up from the WK1s and WJs (family has both a WK1 and a WJ also had a ZJ) They are on mine and my GF short list for a new DD for her when she finish's school (so her XJ can get a "little" work)

I really like the new 2011's. They've got some mean looks compared to the 05-10, and they've won in every 4wd suv shootout I've read. Plus the reviews actually have something nice to say about the quality of materials, workmanship, and engineering in a Jeep for the first time in a few years. It's a step in the right directions.

All the newer Jeeps all seem wider and bigger. I really like the for Grand Cherokee 93-98 style and for Cherokee "XJ" I like them all. For the Wrangler I like 85-06 styles, MacGyver and Jurassic Park

I wounder why they didn't use the Jeep Cherokee in the movie, but used a Ford Explorer. http://images.wikia.com/jurassicpark.../Safaricar.jpg

Anyway since the XJ is no longer made "84-01" the new Jeep Commander has a very close resemblance to the XJ, only wider and bigger.

I'm guessing this is what the Jeep Cherokee XJ models would look like today if still made.
I was at the dealership awail ago and checked out the Commander, It has lots of space and to me too large or big for me. My XJ fits me fine.

I'll have to agree. My '95 ZJ Laredo fits perfect and I find it to be very comfortable. The newer Jeeps do seem more roomy, however, unnecessary. Maybe that's just us... we could care less for all the luxury. I personally find it to be worthless and a waste of money. Plus, it really looks like chicks drive the '11s. lol. Every time I see one, I think, "There's no frickin' way a guy drives that thing. Has to be a woman. It looks way too girly. If it is a guy, he's probably gay."

My Cherokee cost me: $1700
New 2011 Cherokee: $30000 MSRP

Gee. Let me think about that one. I could easily have a new transmission and engine installed for less than a quarter of that price.

Even if I had that kind of money to outright buy it, I'd still buy a used 93-99 Cherokee.

P.S. I'm 6' 4", 235lbs and find it my Laredo to be roomy. No problems fitting in it whatsoever.

Give me an Overland, but with springs instead of air shocks, and a Hemi, and I'll be a good boy, retreat to my little corner of the world, and be quite happy.

(even though it's still a WK, so it's still a ML series, so I just kinda threw up in my mouth a little)

I rented one for a week while in NYC on business, I really liked it. It got plently of look as well..

If can handle NYC street the way it did, it should be a breeze on a trail. But on the other hand it was SO nice I wouldnt wanna take it in the mud...

The Liberty is something that I'm looking at. For the price, even with the IFS, the diesel option might be a blast to own.

If I had to pick any new Jeep from 2010-2011 I'd probably go with the Commander then, Its probably the ne closes to the older Jeeps and looks less girly. http://www.jeepwrangler.com/Images/J...-2007-side.jpg Although every time I see one, theres a woman driving it. All new Jeeps are kinda leaning to the GM Cadillac looks. High class, fancy, Price, Crome. This is a Jeep to me. http://www.4x4offroads.com/image-fil...rokee-xj-1.jpg. I don't see fancy high class in this image.

Can you wheel the newer Jeeps? Definitely! Are they more expensive? Sure. What was the sticker price on your Jeep when it was new?

Give the new jeeps 10, 15, 20 years and you'll be buying them just as cheap and then getting 3rd party parts to wheel them.

Yeah, they're expensive as hell now. Since when has Jeep ever been cheap? Surplus government Jeeps in the 50s or 60s?

^^ KJ's are a flop unfortunately. Sure there are quite a few lifted, and theres even KJ Overlanders Club, but overall, not many people are choosing them for a build. Infact, Rustys Offroad is discontinuing it's KJ lift kits. I personally like them, and if they came with a real axle and a real motor, I would own one.
