I can probably assist with that. There are a lot of Bushwacker-hater threads out there. I have some on my Jeep, and here's my take - they are VERY expensive for what you get. You have to be VERY careful with your bumpstopping. If you use JUST the provided bolts, they can get knocked off with not a lot of effort. If you put nuts on them to prevent that, they will bend the crap out of your quarter panels if they get hit by a tire or tree the right way. I would also like them a lot more if they were hollow, allowing the tire to stuff.
On the other hand, despite all the haters, I love how they look. I still don't go as far as to tell anyone they are a bad thing to buy, but I do say that if I did it all again, I would look harder at other options like Rusty's.

 

It is rumored that they are made of cheap plastic and when you go down into deep woods and bump limbs and trees, instead of flexing they will bust. I have seen numerous threads up hear about that. thats prob what he is reffering too. I dont personally have any but ive seen XJs that have had them on forever w/ no issues and then others that have. I personally think they look bad a$$ w/ a large enough tire. Get the ones you like the best. But as for the cutting, i have trimmed fenders w/ no flares. I ran a small bead of paint around where we cut and and have had no issues w/ rust at all. And there are no flares pretecting mine.

 

I can agree with that. Mine got knocked off off-roadin cuz the tires hit the lower inner section of the flares and stripped the sheetmetal out where the screws went. I ordered a heat gun and plan to bend up that lip so I can tuck the tires better. They are pretty stiff but like dans said they look bad a$$. Im not doin anything to serious off road so Im not too worried bout knockin them into trees.
