Not all 2000s had the precats. There were two versions of the emissions in 2000: CA emissions and EPA or "49 State" emissions. The CA emissions had the two precats in the downpipe. The EPA emissions just have a twin downpipe with no precats.

In 2001 Chrysler only offered the CA emissions version, so all of the 2001s have the extra cats.

Get some good axles if your gunna run lockers. I tred that once. The lockers chewed right threw my stock axles

Oh no. I didn't say I had any. I said GET some good axles. Lockers destroy these axles for some reasom. Get yourself a good set. The best sets are expensive as all hell. But most have Atleast a ten year warranty or even a lifetime warranty and are deff worth the money

HP is more sought after. 1996.5-98 (I think) had the HP front Dana 30 axles.

Don't let axles or year/mileage stop you from buying an XJ. My opinion is body. If the body is solid you can always swap axle/brakes, etc.

I've got an 01' and no Head problems, & swapped in a HPD30 & Chry 8.25/29 spline out of junk XJ's. Straight swaps
