that '98 looks like a great deal if the miles are within reason..

if its just surface rust at the rockers could be just thin paint and rainwater coming in... I'd probe it with a screwdriver, if the underside is okay I think the rockers are merely comsmetic... probe it and buy that thing....

I paid $2400 for mine and it needs paint but it has decent miles and is sound condition otherwise..

May go back and look at the '98 again. It has 173k on it though. Looking at an '01 after work. It has 130k. I'm going to try and get the '01 for $3k and my '95 GC that I paid $350 for. While the 0330 worries me a bit, it isn't a deal breaker.

My '98 had a tiny, barely noticeable spot of rust on the rocker. I poked at it and my finger went through, revealing MUCH more rust than it initially appeared. I'm now in the planning process of cutting the rockers out, fixing the rust and welding in 2x6 box steel. Hope you're ready for that! Otherwise, seems a fair price.
Is there a thread or a guide here on this? I am going to be needing to do this here before too long. Same situation, the 98 XJ looked good when I bought it but driving it in the snow and such within two months the pin hole started and it grew...
