1998 Cherokee limited Help
I am looking at purchasing a Jeep Cherokee 1998 limited that has 77K miles in perfect condition.
Questions
1. Are these good jeeps to lift and use off road?
2. how much should I pay for it?
Thanks for any help..

I have a 98 and am very pleased. Ask anybody on this forum, they like their years no question. The Chrysler 8.25 in a huge plus for the 98, it is a solid axle that can handle up to 35s. All cherokees have the great capabilty to be lifted and turned into a great offroad rig, but the 97+ have the comfort of electric windows/locks

98 4x4 with 77k miles in perfect shape should be worth about 4000-4500. maybe even 5 grand if it comes with Chrysler 8.25 rear end. it IS a big plus if you're gonna lift it. they do great off road. btw if it's ABS, it doesn't have C8.25

I recently paid just under 4 for mine, & it has 145,000 miles on the clock.
Haven't had it long but I love it a good bit.
So far nobody has told me I made a bad choice with it.
Another thing I noticed is it has full glass in the front doors. No wing windows, like the older models. Since I prefer it like this, I'm even happier.

I got my 98 with 140000 for 3500. Its the absolute base model so it has the manual windows and doors which is kinda a pain though. But these things are more than capable on the trail and to be lifted!

I'm slowly turning my '99 Classic is a Limited wannabe. I installed the overhead console, I have the woodgrain radio bezel, and my front seats are leather (out of a '94 Grand Cherokee Limited, very comfy!). Just need some leather back seats and fog lights, and it'll basically be a Limited.
I think you would be very happy with the 1998 Limited. It's easy to lift and great off-road, it looks nice, it's comfortable, and it has all the features available. 77,000 miles is very low, that's about what my '99 had 76,000 on it when I bought it 3 years ago, now it has 102,000. With proper maintainance it will get you well into the 200k or even 300k.
As for price, I'd expect to pay about $4500 if it's 4x4. 4wd is the only thing I wish I had. It is my only real regret about the one I bought. But I still love my baby.
