It's not worth any more than one with 100,000 miles, except to a collector specifically looking for a mint 1988, which weren't special to begin with.
How was it stored/maintained? Yes, even if a vehicle just sits (for 27 years) it needs maintenance.
You don't even state of its running or not, we can't give any value with the small amount of info given.

Less miles is usually more harmful than a lot of miles. Maybe 2K.

Have it appraised by a local guy who specializes in classic cars. Be prepared to pay him.

How much can you get it for?

My 88 is a 4x4 keep in a garage since new, runs has been state inspected every year and serviced every 3 months (those were the times it was driven) all services and inspections were documented. I want to make this my daily driver but am being told by local shops that would be crazy, it could be worth 10k? Any thoughts?

I don't know that there are any rules for this type of thing. If the vehicle runs and drives and in good shape, paint, tires no rust. It's gonna be expensive. Who are you dealing with? A professional Estate Sales Company? If you are it's gonna be tougher to get it for cheap. They might know that' its worth higher. Get it appraised. That will tell you what it's worth and how much you have to spend. Or just try and work a deal for the best price you can get with whomever your dealing with. How bad do you want it?

I would say 10K is steep, but it's only worth what someone will pay for it.

Yeah 10K sounds kinda out there. Like the others have said, play it safe and get an appraisers word for it.

Anything that has sit a long time will have problems once you start to daily drive it.Sitting gaskets dry out and will crack and leak once you drive it and has enough heat cycles in it.And gas older then 6 months with out stabilizer in it can gum up the fuel system also.As far as what its worth can very big time state to state,Like said you need to get it appraised to know what its really worth.
