Hello all,
I have just purchased a 1987 Cherokee Wagoneer that will eventually be my DD and lite trail rig. Once I sort out a few engine issues, I am going to sell my wrangler and use the funds for the Wagoneer. Now....here's the million dollar question.
I plan to run a 4.5 inch lift and keep the body as stock as possible, exceptions are a roof rack and Detours backbone system with winch.
So, looking at my ride, which wheels do you think would look best with it? I originally was going with some soft 8's or D-windows, but my wife thinks the black wheels will looks terrible. So then I started thinking about the Ion Alloys, http://www.quadratec.com/products/92616_6X0X_B_PG.htm I will be running 31x10.50x15 Goodyear Duratracs.
Now I'm torn. Just looking for some opinions. I like the more classic look of the steelies or the Ion/MT classics, nothing too crazy. If you have a Waggie pics would be awesome too, for inspiration!

If you like the factory wheels you could always just get some spacers, it's a love/hate relationship with them but I have spacers on my 3.5" lift and 31s and love the look my factory wheels have. I have an 88' and got some jeep canyon wheels and don't see me buying any other wheels

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the stock wheels I have now. If I could find some ravines at a decent price that could be an option. The problem I have here is I can buy ravines from craigslist or new ones online for about the same price. What a dilemma.

Hah, I think I'm going to hold onto this one for a while. For now my plan is to go with the Ion Alloy 171 in polished unless I find something I like better.
And, since I haven't done an intro yet, a little background on it. Was looking for more room, my wrangler is just too small. I found this out in the rural parts of NC for $1500. It's all stock, with 131K original miles. Aside from being extremely dirty, it's very straight and the interior is almost perfect. Those chips on the drivers front fender are the only body damage issues.
The bad, it's been in a barn for about a decade. The PO pulled it out and had a basic tuneup done, brake booster replaced, and hoses. I had an 80 mile drive home, and about 20 miles from home I blew the head gasket. One tow truck ride later it's home and I will have all the parts by tomorrow to get it up and running again.
