Default 1987-1990 XJ Wagoneer Valuation

I have recently found a 1990 Wagoneer XJ for sale. When I went to check it out, it definitely has spent most of its life in the sun. And so on a 1 to 10 scale, I would say the condition is a six. But it runs great and is mechanically sound. My problem is, I don’t really know what to offer, because the only ones that I find online are in really good condition and going for $15,000 or more. I don’t want to lowball this Old Man, but I definitely don’t want to pay a lot for this jeep. What range do these typically sell for?

What does he want for it?

Gotta know that first.

He does not know what to ask. He does not have a price in mind.

Make him an offer that you're comfortable with.

If he doesn't like it, oh well.

Yeah that would be fine, except that’s not my question. I am trying to find out what these are actually worth. I have bought and sold many cars, so I know how to negotiate. But I don’t know the value of these. I thought you guys might know.

Gotcha. In Chat, there was a guy who was auctioning one. Poke around and see if you can find his post. maybe get the results of the auction.

No offence but if you've bought and sold many cars you must have run into this before. If I wanted to sell my 88 MJ and/or 89 XJ I'd look on line to see what others were going for at the time and where and that would get me in the ball park. It's odd that a guy would offer it for sale and not have an asking price. If you think it's a 6 out of 10 would $9,000 (60% of $15,000) make sense? I'd start lower and come up to that if he baulks.

I was watching it. Sold for $4300. But this was in Florida. Seems the farther you get into the salt belt, the harder it is to find a good clean one, and therefore higher the price.

Thanks. This is just a pretty rare find it seems, and I haven’t found a lot of information online, so I don’t want to look like a fool or a jerk. But you guys are great. I appreciate it.
