Hi all Im newish here. I have had a 94 xj country for a year and just acquired a 00 both 4.0 I'll be doing my own research but any facts on the better components on the two and interchangeability....and go..thanks in advance

 

What difs are on both? If you have a Dana35 on one and literally anything else on the other use the anything else.

Manual tranny or auto? If they're both manual the later year likely has an external slave cylinder so you've already saved yourself that much grief by buying it.

Take a look at the transfer cases. If they're the same, then cool but if not, see which one better suited your use case. Daily driver might want full-time 4wd, weekend toy definitely doesn't.

As far as the rest of the jeep, not a whole lot changed mechanically from what I understand. Mostly cosmetic interior stuff.

Good project might be to swap rusty panels with less rusty ones if you have that issue. Or take the weather stripping off the old one and keep it somewhere safe for the new one if you end up needing it.
