Just practice, practice, practice. I had to of gone through at least a 100 coupons practicing each method of welding before I got confident doing them for work. Although im still not the biggest fan of oxy, but damn I can lay some pretty welds on it. Tig is by far the best imo.

Not dissing you. Just a question. It appears some material is missing and the vertical part is actually smaller at the edges of the weld. Is this normal?

Not exactly sure what that means but I assume the rectangle part was already that shape.

It got undercut because the extreme heat in the puddle pulled some material from above it into the puddle.

It was I believe a 5/16 root (used filler wire to set the gap) and verticle. My ober head I is getting better but not all the way there
