Not kevlar, leather. One of 4 in the shop. Also have a Hypertherm plasma cutter.

Got a few questions for ya guys, I've been doing welding with my snap-on mm140sl for a good 2 years. Now, I'm starting to have people come to me with projects, the current one being a tractor that's needing repairs to the bush hog framing support and the bucket cracking.

What would you guys say is a good hourly fee to charge the guy. I've just about finished the project but not sure what to charge him. Have about 9.5 hours and about half a roll of wire used. I was thinking $40/hr which would end up at $380.

What do you think I should charge per hour? Do I include wire costs in the hourly pay or separate? I'm not certified but my welds are decent, may not be the prettiest but they are tuff as heck. Just don't want to overcharge the guy. Thanks.

$40 seems low to me, but it also depends on your area and what other people are charging. If you plan on continuing to do this then you need to add up all expenses (wire, gas, grinding discs, and so on). If you don't than you'll have no way of knowing if you're actually making a profit or not.
I have no experience with this, I've just done a lot of research on it.

$40 is the low end. Figure consumable costs into your hourly charge.

Alright. I figured $40/hr since in not a professional. And then I was gonna charge another $50 for consumables. So $380 and then another $50 and then $49 in metal

Definitely charge for the steel, that's not a consumable, that's job material. I think your price is fair.

Lincoln Easy-Mig 140 120v
.025 wire

I have it setup for MIG, not the ****ty *** flux that came with it and how it was set up. I will be learning on my own so apologies are forthcoming for my ****ty welds that will be posted here.

A project for Boeing.

The frame
Welding thread!!!!-photo839.jpg

This is .775 thick precision ground surface plate which will go on the top of the frame. It absolutely must remain flat after welding.
