I think he meant Altitude.

I've been getting used to my HF flux core welder also. The only place I've had trouble is when welding 1/4" to the thin walls of the unibody frame. Just taking it slow and tack/spot welding seems to be the way to go.

Extension cords on power equipment cause voltage drop. Like sucking ice cream through a soda straw. Yes it will decrease your welding amperage thus allowing you to weld thinner metal but it will also play havoc on the equipment. If you run low voltage long enough you will damage or destroy your welder.

Disclaimer: You can run extension cords if they are sized correctly, however if it is sized correctly the welder will run as it does without an extension cord.

google 'voltage drop' you'll wreck your equipment if you use to much cord, if you can afford a new one buy it now and get one easier for you and save yourself the headaches.

that welder needs 20 amps. hopefully you extension cord will start on fire before welder lights up
