PLenty of people have done v8 swaps. Its alot of work, since i havent heard of anybody making a kit. Although Advance adapters will be a important company in helping you swap if you want to.

If you want it to be easy then swap out for another 4.0. If you have time money and want to swap over to a v8 go for it

its cheaper to buy another 4.0 then do a V8 swap... even if you already have a V8 laying around

get a replacement 4.0, rebuild it fresh rings, bearings and seals, then get a blower/turbo kit.. I dont know where to get them but I'm sure Google does.
It would be great!

BTW, bought a complete 1999 Chevy 3500 4x4 with a 350 Vortec, to pull everything from the motor, trans, x-fer case to the computer to make it work.. good idea gone bad.. again, stick with the 4.0.. you'll be happier

good luck

Sticking with the 4.0 would be cheaper. But if your looking for more power while you have the engine out stroke it to a 4.7...

a 4.0 would be way easier, cheaper and faster to get up and running again... I plan on finding a lower mileage one to drop into my XJ, and then rebuild my current one and build it up as a budge stroker... then swap it back in...

Here is some info for a Chevy V-8 swap but nothing for Ford: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/xj_swap.htm

I think a 5.0 will fit great and the Mustang wiring is very basic. Short of the motor mounts and the tranny mount it should be pretty straight forward.
