The flip up lids were my first thought but then thinking if I were loaded down with gear going camping and had a break down and needed access to tools I would have to unload. Just didn't like the idea of that. The drawer just seems way more practical

Agreed. I only wanted a small depth storage space, so I only used 2x6's for the framing. Not quite deep enough to squeeze any type of decent drawer beneath. I do like the lids for the simple fact of remaining under the hatch when it's raining as I'm pulling stuff out of it though. Keep up the good work guys, I love seeing new ideas!

I've been pricing these for awhile now, just can't do it. I saw this and searched all over for instructions but no luck. Would you be willing to share the dimensions and instructions so I can build one. I'm in Oregon, so you'll still be original. Thanks in advance just in case. Pamelou

Thanks, so much. I'll do some measuring. I read once, a car of 3 people wrecked, all would have been OK but the driver got hit in the head with a starter that was in the back seat and died. I've got somany car things in the back of my rig. Good to have a locking cargo box. Thinking of railing the top for grocery shopping, etc... thanks again. Good job.

Holy 4 year old thread revival. I hope you get the plans for that drawer though!

I built one 6 months ago. I used 1/2 inch osb for the top and bottom and 2x6 for the uprights. I the driver side drawer has 2 levels for smaller stuff. Attached so foam mats to the bottom so stuff doesn't slide around.

Nice storage box jburr94xj. How hard is it to slide in and pull out the drawers?

there not bad. I put the smooth side of osb up on bottom and down on the drawers. Smooth against smooth slides good. Just enough friction with o keep it from opening under acceleration.
