Hey Everyone! This is my first post on the forum so lets see how it goes
The other day when me and a group of friends were going to Corolla, NC the strangest thing happened to my rear speakers. My brother sat in the trunk and every time we went over a bump the speakers would crackle like crazy. First let me mention that the speakers didn't work (strange) when he sat in the trunk. But when he got out they worked just fine. When we went to "diagnose" the problem I made him get in the trunk and move around (push on the roof, the sides etc. to find the cause) and we found it to be the floor he was sitting on.
Before I rip up the carpet or investigate the trunk floor further I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem... also if anyone knows if it might be certain wires running across... Stock Jeep btw no aftermarket head unit or amature wiring. Thanks Guys!!

Where are the speakers mounted? If they are mounted in the hatch then the wires are not in the floor and what you could be experience is a grounding out issue. My best suggestion would be don't pull the carpet but run new speaker wires and call it a day.

the wires run through the D side of your jeep behind the paneling, i don't recall which wires they are exactly but its not a big issue, do as he ^ said ans just re-run wires, its much easier than trying to find the fault in your circuit and ripping the carpet up is a PITA, that or just tell your friend to lose some weight

just kidding on both accounts

Sounds good! thanks guys. Thats exactly what I had to do to the front ones due to the wires breaking in the door jam over time. I just find its weird that its the floor thats sensitive and not the paneling.
