sounds good just be careful of adding to much weight to the top...jeeps don't need any help with that
yea it's ganna be shallow and i don't plan on putting too much in it. prolly a couple tow straps and the necessary tool while out on the trail.

any updates on this idea?
i'm looking for a local place where i can buy some metal so maybe then i'll be able to start building a bumper and probably a rack toolbox. are you going with aluminum for your box?

yea I've been searching c-list for a use beat up truck tool box no1's looking to sell there tool boxes around here. and I've been welding metal ever since i was 10 for my dad and just picked up aluminum 2 years ago not the best at it yet but as long as it holds i'll be happy.
and look for a local scrap yard. i know we have 2 here in Des Moines.
here in the next week or 2 if i haven't found 1 for the right price on c-list. i'm going to hit up all the junk yards and see if any of them have 1.

yeah i just completed a two month welding class through the navy. we TIG welded steel, stainless, inconel, and aluminum. i'm not the best at aluminum but atleast i can make two pieces stick together lol
but yeah i wanna get my hands on some metal and get some projects going.

what you need to find is a 4ft side box. they come ft wide and are 12" front to back. normally they are six inches deep in front and 12 in back. you will have to chop and patch the deeper part off but it would give you the cleanest looking spot to chop it. did that make sense?
