you could get a basic cage and add to it later if need be. but if you can aford the better kit i would do that but let us know the prices. most places are around 1200 plus for a 6 point i think so if it is cheaper then get the 8

The more points the better in the cherokee i would say at least six points since your planning on cutting out alot of the structure of the truck

They can build a custom cage to your specs. Give 'em a call.

do yourself a favor and buy the kit if thats really what you want. the kit will save you the frustration of a leaky top, it would look better, fold up easier, and keep some rigidity to your roof.

you will go through hell trying to get a snap on top not to leak. thats if you can find one with the right dimensions.

I had a Demon that came with a fold-back top like that and it was the berries! In over 15 years until I sold the car I never had a problem with leakage, rattling, ripping, or the latches not working. I loved it.

I put in a locking center console, locked my toolbox, and locked my toolbox to the spare tire. I'm still paranoid about going door-less and people stealing my tools and other stuff, I could never go topless.

A thief will break out a window and unlock the door before slicing the top and/or climbing in. That's way too obvious. Besides, they want the fastest way in/out.

Take this for what its worth...

Look at most buggys out there. they have nothing but tubing all around them so its all open air. What do they all do? They put a roof on it to keep the sun off of them. If it was me, which it isn't, i'd look more into removing the whole roof, windows, sides, ect. and having a bikini top for it. Really the only thing that you will gain by removing just the roof and leaving the hard sides and windows is that your head will get sunburned.

Like i said...take it for what its worth. Just my .02

Yeah but with no top (top off) everyone could see exactly whats inside, grab, and go. Like this:

I guess if its a 100% trail rig its never gunna be a problem, but with my DD I'm still debating the doors.
