Default sliders?

Has anyone used these plans to build there sliders? I've started building mine and the legs that connect the sliders to the unibody rails show u need them 10.25 and 11.25 inches but that makes them uneven on my jeep. Has anyone else run into this?

Have you mounted them already or at least measured the XJ to see if it will be uneven? I plan on using these plans, so I'd also like to know...

Haven't used those plans but we built a set for a guy and they were different lengths because the frame rails or whatever you want to call them are set back farther in the rear than the front.

The legs on my sliders are different lengths, the pinch weld brace also is'nt parallel with the slider like the one in this plan. Give me a little bit and I'll go out with the measuring tape and give you guys some input as far as my measurement vs the plan.

The legs on mine are 10.25" front and 10.50" rear (slider to uni-body), the pinch weld brace (1"x 1") is set in from the slider .50" in front and .75" rear. So mine taper in .25" from the rear forward. This puts the pinch weld brace perpindiculer with the uni-body and the slider tapering in as it gets to the front. My front leg (from the uni to the slider) is at 7.25" back from the front of the slider as opposed to the 9" in the plan and the rear is 9" forward instead of 11" allowing it to tie into the rear spring pocket with a 90* bend of the uni-body bracket. They line up with the body on my '98 perfectly. Hope this helps out a little and isn't too confusing.

Just out of curiosity, how much did it cost for the amount of metal to make the sliders? Looks simple enough to do in a weekend.

Haha, nothing wrong with that. I just want to save some money and be able to say "I made those." I figure if I spend the money on materials and a used welder, then I'll have everything I need for the next time I want to build something and it will still be less than buying them from a company.

That's not so bad then. I can afford $50 to build some sliders. After I pay off some tickets, court fees, etc. I'm going to head down to nearest supplier and pick up some steel.

I built mine. My slider and pinch seam brace is like desert rat, not parallel. And I'm pretty sure my legs were a bit different. I used 3/4 square tubing for the pinch seam brace and 1 by 2 for the legs. Which were welding to some flat plate. I attached the plate to the main frame rail with 3/8ths self tapers (most expensive part on my build). I added a third leg in the middle. I have seen (even the .125 wall) bend in the middle and dent the rocker panel. I also rotated the 2x2 slider tube 45 degrees. I posted a pic of a slider similar to mine on one of my first posts here at cherokeeforum.
