This is how I attached mine. I used 1/4"x2"x2" square tubing for the slider part, then a 3/4" square for along the pinchseam, 1"x2" square for the arms that attach it to the frame rail. I used three arms, I've seen the rail bend in the middle with heavy abuse. To attach it to the frame rail, I used 3/8" self tapers.

X 2, Mine are attached and done just like above. Mine are attached to the Unibody frame by 8 self tapping bolts and attached to the Pinch Seam by 5 nuts and bolts.

Was it your set up that bent?

Have you guys taken many hits on them? How do the self tapers and the attaching to the pinch seam hold up when you take a good hit?

Thats actually not a picture of mine, just one I found that is similar. No my set up didn't bend. The few guys sliders that did bend only had to arms to the frame rail, and thats why I added the third in the middle. I've slamed down on mine HARD not bend, bolt pulled out, it appears that nothing has happed.

I'm also currious if adding some sort of skid plate would be worth the extra weight to keep the rails that attach to the frame from becoming catch points on rocks?

I can see it being beneficial if you wheel alot in bouldery trails. 90% of mine are ledges, moab type wheeling. I've heard of people doing it and being caught on there sliders, but never seen either one.
