The welds should be stronger than the steel... (Hopefully he's doing it right)

true...

but the steel can take more lateral movement than a weld can. Because it multiples the stress levels when pulled from the side since it is acting like a lever... so you then place 2-3 times the force on just one weld instead of the steel itself

All true, if you make it part of the mounting plate and have them 5" long like mine, you have a LOT more weld area holding the tabs on and its tied into the strongest part of the bumper as opposed to just being welded to the face.

bumper looks great!!!! for those telling him to make the d-ring holes apart of the mounting plate lets see some pics of that. i'm gathering steal right now to start on my bumpers and wanna see how some others did it. and this would give this guy a better idea of what he could do. but i like this bumper a lot and going to use some of his ideas.

To all the dring comments, where the tabs mount now, on the opposite side of the steel there are gussets and reinforcement for the dring tabs. I could move them over to where the bumper mounts are and tie the dring tabs in with them, but where they are now, they will be fine. Behind the tab mounting surface is 1/4" gussets that should be more then enough.

AJsOffroad Armor. He sells pairs of CNC Laser Cut 3/4" x 2" x 6" D-ring tabs for $40 shipped. More than enough to tie to the frame plates while also being perimeter welded to the face of the bumper.

Sick build man. Cant wait to see it done. I'm in the process of figuring out what i want for mine, so this is really stimulating my fabbing juices.

All finished. Cleaned up the corners and threw a coat of primer on it...

Finished painting the whole thing black today and will install tomorrow and take a few more pics.

I only took the 2 pics because I was running late for work. The new longer steering box bolts were hell trying to get them in with everthing a lot thicker now so that took me all morning.

I'm going out Friday morning up in Vegas with it so I will get some nice shots from under and sides when its nice and bright out.

Looks great. Was kind of skeptical on the design at first, but now I'm liking it.
