Simple low fab bumper build
[QUOTE=troy fritz;619848]
lol. its all good.
Btw to the OP. Not trying to bust your *** about the bumper, just putting in some constructive criticism. I'm glad to see anyone build their own stuff over buying commercially made stuff(ARB retard bar anyone?)

haha that ARB is a huge peice of steel.
id have to agree though making it better than stock would be a good goal, but at least he didnt make it worse than stock like that giant piece of steel ARB calls a bumper lol.

OK besides you guys think its a bad bumper, constructive critism would be nice, whats so wrong with it for someone who might be wanting to build one in the future.

[QUOTE=ZachsXJ;619858]No I like input whether it be good or bad. There is a lot of other people who have done bumpers before me so I'm sure the mistakes I could be making, someone else has already expierenced. As for the approach angle comment, I was just trying to explain why I did it the way I did.
...***whoops--posted without looking at pg 2....but in anycase, nice stuff and I will definitely be hitting you up shortly**

The main issue i see is that it hangs down lower than needed and compromises the approach angle as a result.

Yeah but like I said, its a 1/2 inch fron the bottom of the frame. Can't get a whole lot closer then that. The angle of the picture makes it appear to hang low. I just need different pics to explain but its in the garage at the moment.
I think it looks great.I wish I could weld and make my own .I bought mine .Heres a pic and it looks to hang like yours does and I've had no issues with it.

Keep up the good work.Get it done allready so we can see it.

ok here are some better pics of the front showing that it doesnt hang as low as some might think...

Keep in mind I dont have much lift. About 2-3"

You can see here the bottom of the frame rail and how low my bumper hangs from it...not much

and finally how far out it sits from the front which isnt a whole lot...

Torched out some dring mounts today out of 3/4 inch steel.

Started cleaning them up but still have a lot of grinding to do.

Just an idea of what it should look like.

if you just weld them on, it doesnt matter if you make it out of 2" steel. it is only as strong as your welds....
make them part of the mount!!!
make them part of the mount!!!
