well its definitely original
carpet would probably be easier and look better sheet metal would be hard to hide all the imperfection(no offense) and if you use thicker metal then you might as well have used metal to just build the whole thing imo
what was wrong with the stock one ??

Not too bad. I'm sure if you wrap it in carpet it would look a whole lot better. (not saying it doesn't already) How about a pic from a different angle. Did you add cup holders?

Give him a break guys, he's a newbie and this is his first post. Keep up the good work of always at least attempting to modify your Jeep, as we all do it. I agree with the above, carpet will be the easiest to cover it with, it won't scratch, it won't dent, and it will make your edges appear seamless. Just make sure you use a good carpet glue when and if you do cover it with carpet, as it will hold much better than spray adhesive. Welcome to the forum!

"A "for effort..now, go to the depot, get some wood filler putty, smooth out all the edges and the grain and sand smooth. from there you can cover it in speakerbox carpet, or sand it really smooth and bedline it. for the gap around the shift shaft...go to said home depot/lowes find the "door sweeper" piece that fits on the botttom of a house door and put a strip on each side..you can find them in rubber, or broom type "wiskers" mine started as a wood template...now getting built out of aluminum

Mines not done yet so dont knock it too bad.
