So I just started my roof rack build and have had a few people interested in having me build them one. I had a gentleman stop by my house today while working on my roof rack and he was one of the guys that asked me if I would be interested in building him one because someone stole his roof rack and his buddies! They are only held on by a few bolts, so obviously it is easy for thieves to take, I want to make it HARDER for them.

So my question is has anyone figured out a way to lockup their roof rack? After hearing that story it has me worried about my rack walking away from me at night.

 

A guy i know had it happen to him. He put bolts through his roof with nuts on the other side. He doesnt have a headliner though

 

I use a SportRack lock **** on my trailer and it probably could be adapted to a roof rack. The 3/8" NC rod can be easily shortened using a hack saw.

Tack the bolts in. Removal will involve a grinder.
