Hey guys, after months of hearing all my tools bounce around in the trunk of my jeep, I decided to make a tool box. It will also utilize the random little pocket on the side. Now, I gotta say, I didn't come up with this idea myself. I got the idea off a guy on Jeep Forum I think. Apparently he made them and sold them and so I found his thread and went to his eBay page, but he doesn't sell them anymore. So I decided to build my own off of his design. Here are some screen shots of the one he built. And here are the blueprints I've drawn up for my own design. Hopefully it'll fit alright. The guy who made them never said anything as to the dimensions of his tool box so I had to come up with it all myself. I figured I would make a write up on it in case anybody else wanted to build one for themselves. Keep in mind, I'm writing this as I go so the tool box may not turn out perfect and may need a few adjustments once I'm done. I'll specify those issues when I finish the project. Also, I'm not sure what I plan on doing as for the hinges and latch but I'll see what I come up with when I get to that point.

I remember this...cool project...and totally killer as it uses little space in the cargo area. I have thought about doing a custom tool area in the back of my rig, and this would be a part of it, the only thing I would add is stackable trays/drawers in that area, that lift out, rather than having everything just thrown in there. However, if I ever do a comp cut rear....all bets are off, LOL

It was Creepy Fabdication who made the cargo box, I bought one in 2015 (last year) from him

He is also a forum member.

I'm glad I got one now hearing he no longer sells them...it's an excellent design and very well built.

Had it powder coated in its full of gear.

I didn't talk to him directly but he doesn't have them on his eBay page anymore so I'm assuming he no longer sells them. Only thing he had listed were his steering box spacers. Lol

You can google Creepy Fabrication, contact info is there, I didn't see his latest batch of rear storage boxes in stock. He may have got out of the business.

It would be good to see someone reviving them, they are an excellent upgrade and modification, if you need any info or pics from mine let me know.

And it you can make a security console insert I will prepay for the first see link below.

interesting, I didn't think about that. Only thing is that I have the pre 97 console. I plan on upgrading to the 97 up console sometime in the future so maybe I can design a security console then.

I made a few changes to the blue prints since I have the rugged ridge floor liners to work around. You see what I did once I get the box made. My neighbor works at a place that makes metal so he's gonna get me the pieces cut and bent. I'll be using 14 Guage galvanized steel. I should have the metal by next week sometime.

I have one of those and I love it. I really want a matching drivers side toolbox.

I made one of these a couple years ago. Well, actually, I drew it up and my friend that owns a machine shop made it for me. It's very handy, and looks great. Good luck with yours; you'll love it.
