Default new bumper

ok so here is my new bumper just got it mostly finished still needs paint and a good wire brushing everything is just surface rust that's what happens when you get old metal out of fields. so tell me what you think i am trying to figure out something to fill in for the front on the side of the winch got any ideas.

throw plate from the top of the bumper to the winch plate. i think it looks nicer that way. you can kinda see it in mine.

your talking about angle the pockets inward towards the winch right. that would work then i could install myd rings in the same spot. but i was kinda going for that old wrecking truck look. thats why i used such sharp angles

that would work then iwould have a spot for my d rings i want to keep those brackets tight to the bumper mount brackets so they will put the pull back into the unibody.

The design is sweet, and that is one of the best winches ever made, just one thing tho, the welds in picture two look really cold, doesn't seem like you got any penatration. I can't tell on the other welds because you already ground them down but if they looked similar you may have a problem. What is the thickness of the metal and what did you use to weld it? With that powerful of a winch you don't want that comeing apart on you during a pull, could injure/kill someone. How did you mount it to the "frame"? I'm not trying to pick on you at all and I really like your design, just want you to be safe.

the main bumper is made from all 1/4 steel with the diamond plate on top just for looks i used my lincon arc 240 welder at 130 to weld with 6011 rod and my brackets go all the way to the holes behind the steering box and behind the alt so i'm back at least a good 20"

i've already had my xj laid on it's side and buried to the axles and that winch was a beast, i love it i thought well maybe it wont hold but it held no cracks or anything 90% of the time my welds look like crap but the hold very well

Yeah, 6011 always looks like crap but penatrates VERY well. If you want a pretty weld do a follow up pass with 7018. Sounds like it will be just fine. Good job.

ya 6011 is the only thing that i have and half myrods have gotten moister in the flux so it's a 50/50 shot your going to get a good rod or a bad rod.
