got the thing mocked up and now i have to pull it off and do the final welding on it and make some filler pieces for the edges. we cut them to *45. counted all my mounting and ended up with 21 mounting bolts.

Hello,
You need to go inside the frame rails with 2x2 tube.
Bolt up from the sides of the gas tank 3 bolts each side.
Like the trailer hitch is installed.
I mounted my bumber exacly as you did, came off a rock landed on the rear.
It rotated up hit the hatch ans broke it in half.
The sheet metal is not strong enough.

hmm didnt think about just using 2x2. so i take it, it slides right under the leaf spring shackle bolt? thats a good idea now i might have to try that out but its kind of late though since it would through everything else way off. i am going to have the piece of 1/4 plate connected under it down the bottom of the frame rail just like the hitch was. wouldnt that surfice enough? im all ears.

Hi Matt,
The bumpers look great. I have a similar mounting setup in the rear less the side mounts. I towed a double axle trailer with my 72 Chevelle on it this past weekend without any concerns. Unless you are planning on snattching your Cherokee out of a cave by the bumper, you should be good.
BTW, how to put the pin in the rear receiver?

with all those mounting points I don't see that bumper rotating or moving. Mine is a tube bumper mounted to factory points and 3 extra bolts in the middle and I have virtually lifted the rig off the ground

just a little update so you dont think i have stopped working on it. but got the ends capped and started the grinding and smoothing process. not much fun but has to be done i guess.
Matt Good gob man.
I wouldnt worry about the bumper twisting up. I think all the bolts you have holding it in should surfice. Plus if it twists up.. you would have a reason to back half your rig
