Default Interior Roll Cage.. Questions

What kind of tubing is best for making a roll cage? What about thickness? I have never worked with metal or a welder. But its time to learn. But just wanted to know if anyone had any tips on making a cage? Pictures are welcome.

what about same size, but HREW? I know it's weaker but my friend builds all his cages out of HREW and rolls his rigs all the time. he has me pretty convinced that it will work for me. he has enough HREW laying around to build a cage I offered him $200 and he will even help me build the cage

Keep in mind that an internal cage only needs to work once.
HREW, .120" wall minimum

If you don't trust your welds to save your life....hire someone that knows what they are doing.

By hybrid, I assume you mean a combination of internal and external components.

I'm not big on exo's so I'm not the guy to ask.

it's not a matter of saving money or anything. just that he has it laying around and offered to help me build the cage. It's kinda hard to pass up

I'm not a fan of exo's either. it will be a strong internal with unibody tie-ins, frame stiffeners, then the top of the cage through roof and coming down the A pillars.

Most of the ones I've seen are all HREW.

If we're talking about a competition rig....nothing but D.O.M.

I can see the interior working fine, but anything that could come in contact with rocks I would use dom.

So what would you guys recommend for the interior? It'll be an internal cage for jeepspeed. (Hopefully)
