Default Hudfab Exo Build

I recently got one of my old Jeeps back and it had been neglected to no end since I sold it. I had to fix a few things and replace some sheetmetal. While I was replacing the fenders and hood, I decided to bend up some fender tubes and a new stinger.

Then I decided it was time for some new paint.

Went wheeling the next weekend on two of the Hardest trails in colorado (Independance and Patriot) My good buddy Seth flopped his xj and broke his windshield frame.

So that promted me to get started on an Exo cage asap!!

Started the Halo yesterday. Bending a 20ft piece of tube by yourself is quite interesting!! Thank god I have air over hydro!

Thas as far as I got yesterday. I will be adding more triangulated tubes to the Halo. This build might take a little while as I am REALLY busy with customer bumpers and lift kits. I dont get much time to work on mine, so I work really hard when I do!!

Let me know what ya think so far!!

Dustin

The ram is a cheap harbor freight one($80). I bought a ram mount from swagoffroad.com for $129 unwelded......air over hydro cost me about $220....cant beat that!!

We have 3 shop dogs!! Only one will rip heads off for entering the shop unwelcome!!.....

Thanks! I'm using 1 3/4'' 11 guage HREW (pretty much .120 wall) Before the debate on tubing starts, I have built a few cages out of HREW and they have survived roll after roll. Its all about how you design the cage.

Someday, I hope to become big enough to have employees! The shop is a little unorganized right now. We just moved in on Jan 1st, so we still have some things to get in order. You can see one of the lifts laying on the floor in one or two of the pics....Getting installed tomorrow!!

I like the start of the exo, like the shop too. Those looking to go away from manual benders...go hyd. I built my set up for about 300, its fully hyd,in and out, has a load holding valve to help with"spring back" and will pull a full 90 in about 20 secs..no air required.even has a cool little remote control to keep an eye on your degree wheel.

Is your cage going to be a hybrid?

Yes, but not the conventional hybrid that goes thru the fenders and has no side protection. It will be a full exo, with tubes running thru the roof(no sandwich plates), thru the rear quarters, and firewall, all tieing into a triangulated internal cage. Its the only way I have seen xj's last thru multiple rolls. I plan on having this thing for a while, so i might aswell make it a tank!!
